The next window for applications opens on Feb. 18, 2025.
The window to apply for a Parental Choice Tax Credit will open on Feb. 18, 2025. Priority will be given to households earning less than $150,000 per year. Private school parents seeking a tax credit should submit their application to the Oklahoma Tax Commission as early as possible on or after December 1.
Credits are available on a per-student, per-year basis. For example, a household earning less than $75,000 annually with three children attending private school could claim $22,500 in tax credits.
Private school is now a financially viable option for every family in Oklahoma. Average private school tuition in Oklahoma is less than $7,000 a year, meaning this tax credit can cover most if not all of the cost of tuition for many students and families.
Additionally, many parents can combine these tax credits with existing state-backed scholarship programs like the Lindsey Nicole Henry Scholarship (average value = $7,000) and the Equal Opportunity Scholarships (average value = $2,600).
Home School Tax Credits
The Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit Act also establishes a $1,000 per student income tax credit for qualified expenses related to homeschooling. Qualified expenses include:
Tuition and fees for nonpublic online learning programs
Academic tutoring services
Instructional materials
Fees for nationally standardized assessments
